On March 12, major closures will take place on I-10 Eastbound and North Mesa Street (SH 20). Please plan ahead! The closures will occur at the following locations:
I-10 Eastbound will completely close after Redd Road. A detour will be in place exiting motorists at the Redd Road Exit (Exit 9) and putting them on southbound Doniphan Drive (SH 20). Traffic will then be able to re-enter I-10 East from Sunland Park Drive.
North Mesa Street (SH 20) will be closed in both directions at the I-10 Overpass. Detour signs will be posted.
South Desert Boulevard will be completely closed between Thorn Avenue and North Mesa Street (SH 20).
TRAFFIC PATTERN SWITCH AFTER 27-HOUR CLOSURE
In the picture above, the red shaded area indicates the part of the I-10 Eastbound Overpass that will be demolished. Traffic on I-10 East will be switched onto the new center median of the I-10 Overpass, as indicated with the green arrows.
This demolition and lane switch work normally takes a few days to complete, but crews will be working hard on March 12 to complete it in 27 hours to minimize impacts to motorists and businesses.
